Our clinical staff at Speech Pathology Services treats patients at Southeastern Regional Medical Center, The Southeastern Lifestyle Center for Fitness and Rehabilitation, Public Schools of Robeson County, preschool programs, home health agencies, and at our outpatient clinic on Oakridge Boulevard.
Lori Leggett is our office Manager at Speech By the Beach. Lori has been working in the speech environment for the past 15 years. She enjoys getting to know and interacting with the children and the families we serve. The most important things to Lori are her faith and her family. In her free time, Lori loves relaxing on the beach with her husband, Mark. They have two children, Brandon and Chase.
Bozaya Simon

Bozaya is a Florence, SC native who earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Speech-Language Pathology from South Carolina State University. She is passionate about helping children build strong communication skills in a fun, supportive, and family-centered environment. When she’s not working with kids, Bozaya enjoys reading and spending quality time with her loved ones.

Devon Layton
Devon is a speech-language pathologist completing her clinical fellowship at Speech by the Beach. Devon graduated from Columbia College with her bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2018. After getting her bachelors she worked for 2 years at Speech by the Beach as a speech-pathologist assistant before returning back to complete her masters. She completed her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Emerson College in 2021. She moved to South Carolina, from Pennsylvania, in 2015 and has never looked back. Devon has a love for children and helping them succeed. In her spare time, she loves to sit on the beach, shop, cuddle her dog, and hang out with friends and family.

Jessica Dawson

Jessica Dawson is a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant at Speech by the Beach. She graduated from Radford University Carilion with an Associate’s Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from Bridgewater College in Virginia, where she also played collegiate softball. Since beginning her career in 2021, Jessica has gained experience in a variety of therapy settings, helping clients reach their goals through personalized, compassionate care. After moving from Virginia to North Myrtle Beach in November 2024, she’s thrilled to continue her passion for helping others in the coastal community. Jessica loves working with children and takes pride in celebrating their achievements every step of the way.
Alisha Collins

Alisha Collins is a SLP-Assistant at Speech by the Beach. She is originally from Alabama and moved to the beautiful coast of South Carolina with her family in 2022. Alisha holds a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from the University of Montevallo. She is passionate towards helping children achieve their fullest potential in communication and development. In her spare time, Alisha enjoys spending time outdoors with her family.
Katie Grissom

Katie Grissom has been an SLP-Assistant since 2015. She has an Associate’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant from Fayetteville Technical Community College and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She recently lived in Lumberton NC where she worked for Speech Pathology Services of Robeson, Inc. Currently, she lives in Sunset Beach, NC where she works with Speech By The Beach Inc. She is married and is a mother to two amazing girls.

Jessica Howell
Jessica Howell joined our team on March 1, 2023, bringing a passion for supporting children through a child-led, total communication approach. As an ASHA-certified Speech-Language Pathology Assistant, Jessica holds a Bachelor of Health Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Florida. With her extensive knowledge and experience, Jessica is dedicated to continuous professional growth, always staying current with the latest research and advancements in her field. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.

Jennifer Stephenson
Jennifer Inman Stephenson is the owner and President of Speech Pathology Services of Robeson, Inc. Jennifer is a native of Fairmont NC and attended East Carolina University where she received her undergraduate degree in Communication Disorders and a Masters in Speech-Language Pathology. Jennifer and her husband Ken bought SPS in 2004 from Linda A. Smith after moving back from Raleigh to be closer to home and family. SPS has been a staple in the medical community for over 33 years.
Along with day to day operations at SPS, Jennifer is also the Director of Clinical Compliance. She oversees documentation as well as compliance with federal and state regulations for speech therapy services.
Jennifer has gained a wealth of knowledge through the years through specialized training in several areas. These include, but are not limited to: Pediatric Feeding/Swallowing and Assessment, Dysphagia and Modified Barium Swallows, Voice, Rythmic Phonetics, Articulation and Language, IEP/CECAS, Cognitive-Based Therapy, Tracheostomy Training, Mechanical Ventilation, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Lindamood-Bell Phoneme Sequencing Training (LIPS). Jennifer is a certified VitalStim Therapy Provider as well. Jennifer also conducts speech and language workshops for local pediatricians, daycare providers, preschools, and parent groups for awareness and education on speech and language concerns.
Jennifer has gained experience working with children and adults birth through geriatrics in settings here at SPS. Jen is dedicated to providing personalized therapy programs enabling her patients to achieve communication and swallowing goals through a variety of therapeutic approaches.
Jennifer enjoys spending time with her husband Ken and their 3 boys. She is a soccer, surf, scout, as well as a dirt-bike mom. Jennifer is a member of First Presbyterian Church on Chestnut St. in Lumberton. She is also a Past President of the Junior Service League as well as a Sustainer. Jennifer was a past Gala co-chair of the Southeastern Regional Medical Center Gala and has served on that committee for several years. She is an active member of the NC Speech-Language Hearing Association (NCSHLA) and serves on the Professional Affairs Committee. Jennifer is also an active (ASHA) American Speech-Language Hearing Association member. Jennifer is licensed by the board of NC and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.
Shelley Fontana

Shelley Fontana is a speech-language pathologist at Speech by the Beach. Shelley graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a master's degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences in 2022. She has spent her years working in outpatient and ABA clinics, largely with children with autism and behavioral needs. Shelley has a passion for helping children find their voice and ensuring that families feel well educated and supported in their child's journey.
